WAUPACA, Wis. (WSAW) - The Waupaca Area Fire District recently received a nearly $10,000 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® to ensure its first responders have the necessary equipment to keep community members and themselves safe.

The $9,259 grant will be used to purchase 32 new pairs of wildland boots, allowing the department to ensure all the firefighters are properly equipped for the rigors of firefighting in rugged terrain during a wildland fire.

“We are grateful to the Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Stevens Point for awarding us this grant,” said Waupaca Area Fire District Fire Chief Jerry Deuman. “The new wildland boots will fulfill a critical need within our department and allow our first responders to better help the people of the Waupaca during emergency situations.”

For the past 18 years, charitable donations have been the driving force behind Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® supporting first responders and public safety organizations nationwide.
