AUTAUGA COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA/Gray News) - An Alabama woman says she just had two and a half weeks with her husband before he was taken away from her in a motorcycle crash.

“I’m waiting for him to walk through the doors,” newlywed bride Chloe Greiner-Davis said.

Greiner-Davis’s husband, Dakota Davis, was a corporal with the Prattville Police Department.

The 25-year-old was killed after a wreck on his motorcycle, something Davis’s wife and father say was a freak accident with no one to blame.

According to loved ones, motorcycles were a hobby for Davis and something he had a passion for since he was a kid.

“I was so upset that he got a motorcycle, but I knew it was his calling,” Greiner-Davis said. “My biggest thing was you could be the best driver on this planet, but other people just don’t know how to drive.”

Davis was described as a family man who was intentional with his words and found real purpose in his job as a police officer protecting and serving the public.

“A man of few words, and he meant what he said. Deep into the heart. He didn’t say it unless he meant it,” his father, Paul Davis, said. “Very outgoing young man, but a man of few words. You know, he loved his family, loved playing sports.”

The emotions remain raw as the family prepares for a funeral on his favorite holiday: Halloween.

Paul Davis shared a heartfelt message for this son through tears:

“He is loved, and he is missed.”

For Greiner-Davis, the message to her husband is simple:

“I just want him to know that I love him. So much. I just love him so much.”

Greiner-Davis said she has been left to navigate mortgage payments and moving expenses without the love of her life, all while continuing to work toward her master’s in elementary education.

Thankfully, the community has already stepped up, raising thousands of dollars in support.
