Brewers fans fill American Family Field for Game 4 watch party
Milwaukee team looks to sweep Tampa Bay in World Series
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAW) - The Milwaukee Brewers watch party for Game 4 of the World Series at American Family Field is sold out for a second straight night, with more than 30,000 fans gathering to watch the team try to sweep Tampa Bay.
The Brewers take the field in St. Petersburg, Florida, for Game 4.
Fans react after Game 3
Fans at the Game 3 watch party saw the Brewers score eight runs in the fifth inning with two outs. It is the most runs scored in that scenario in World Series history.
“How about them Brewers? Let’s go Brewers, let’s go! C’mon Brewers in 4,” Michael Ipavec, Connor Lassanaske and Grayson Fisco said.
Dillon Ortiz, Tyler Minkoff and Shane Bibb also predicted a sweep. “Oh, they’re going, they’re gone! We’re winning the whole thing, not even a chance for the Rays,” they said.
Chance at postseason history
With a win in Game 4, the Brewers would be the only team in MLB history to sweep both their championship series and the World Series since both series became best-of-seven.
They also would be the first team to win a championship with a single loss since the postseason went to a four-round format.
Both teams in the World Series are playing for their first franchise title.
Fans won’t see a trophy raised in Milwaukee if the Brewers win Game 4. However, they don’t mind and want to see the team finish the series Tuesday night.
“We’ve been waiting so long for this, just seeing the fans capitalize and just loving every second of it,” Kyle and Melissa Germait said.
Fans arrive early
Families began arriving at American Family Field ahead of the game.
“This is amazing, this is amazing. It’s fantastic. 44 years, this is awesome. I was four years old when they were in it in ’82,” said Derek Gallagher and Savannah Byrge from West Allis. “I think we’re just going to see what happens and from there I might have to call in sick tomorrow. I don’t know.”
“Let’s go Brewers” chants and music were building at the stadium before the game began.
