Wisconsin Dells man charged with child exploitation after alleged assault of teen at resort

ADAMS COUNTY, Wis. (WSAW) - A 29-year-old Wisconsin Dells man faces multiple felony charges after authorities say he gave alcohol and THC gummies to a 16-year-old girl vacationing at a local resort and recorded himself sexually assaulting her.

Joan Manuel Calderon Triana appeared in Adams County Circuit Court on Monday for a bond hearing.

He’s expected to be charged with sexual exploitation of a child, child enticement, capturing an intimate representation of a minor without consent, and two misdemeanor counts of sexual intercourse with a child. A judge set his cash bond at $35,000.

His initial appearance is scheduled for Oct. 27.

According to a criminal complaint, the investigation began Sept. 10 after a woman contacted law enforcement upon discovering explicit videos on her 16-year-old daughter’s phone. The victim told detectives she and a 15-year-old friend were visiting a resort in early August when Calderon Triana offered them a ride, provided them with THC gummies and alcoholic beverages, and claimed he was 19.

Investigators said Calderon Triana assaulted the teen at his home and later in a resort parking lot while recording the encounters on his phone. When interviewed by detectives following his arrest on Sept. 18, Calderon Triana admitted to having sexual contact with the girl, recording the encounters, and sending a video to her phone.
