Woodson YMCA grant expands girls flag football program
Women’s Fund grant to support youth sports initiative
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - A new grant will help bring more local girls to the gridiron through an expanded flag football program at the Woodson YMCA.
The YMCA received funding from the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin’s Women’s Fund for Marathon County to support its girls flag football league. The grant is part of the broader “Y is Where Girls Rise” initiative aimed at boosting female participation in youth sports.
Organizers say the program focuses on teaching fundamental football skills, building teamwork and developing leadership on and off the field.
The Women’s Fund for Marathon County provides grants designed to support local programs that invest in women and girls across the region.
