Mother accused of chasing her children with a knife, threatening to cut their throats, police say

ELKINS, W.Va (WDTV/Gray News) - A mother is accused of chasing her children with a knife and threatening to cut their throats, according to police.

Sara Daniels, 36, was charged with three counts of child abuse resulting in injury.

What did the children report to police?

Her children, ages 9, 11 and 14, each said that Daniels grabbed them by the throat, hit them and threatened them.

All three children separately described an incident where Daniels chased the 14-year-old with a knife, and the 9-year-old reported that Daniels told the oldest child, “I’ll cut your brother and sister’s throat if you leave.”

The interviewer also observed a scar on the 11-year-old that the child said was inflicted when Daniels banged her head against a door.

The children said Daniels and her boyfriend were on drugs and once rammed their vehicles into each other, nearly striking the 9-year-old.

The children described an instance where Daniels told the 14-year-old she “wished she would have died” and that “she’d help her make sure she did it right the next time” after telling the girl that she would help her kill herself, according to court documents.

Where is Daniels being held?

Daniels is currently held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
