Stevens Point man arrested after driving Cybertruck onto Library Mall in Madison

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A 31-year-old from Stevens Point is facing several traffic violations after driving a Cybertruck onto Library Mall Tuesday night.

According to the UW-Madison Police Department, around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, the unauthorized vehicle drove onto Library Mall, causing a disturbance.

UWPD did not share details about what led up to the incident.

No injuries were reported.

The driver was booked into the Dane County Jail by UWPD.

Democratic State Rep. Francesca Hong shared a video on X at 8 p.m. of a Cybertruck being towed with the caption “May this cybertruck being towed away be a sign for our democracy”.

In a separate, unrelated incident at the same time, a planned and ticketed event at Memorial Union was disrupted by at least three people, according to UWPD.

The people were given warning that their behavior was deemed disruptive and unlawful before they were escorted out by officers.

The people were detained then later released.

UWPD said the people were not affiliated with UW-Madison.
