Woman charged with plotting to kill father of her child

MERRILL, Wis. (WSAW) - Bond was set at $100,000 cash for a 45-year-old Marathon woman accused of trying to enlist someone to kill the father of her child.
Angela Volm, 45, is charged in Lincoln County Circuit Court with solicitation to commit first-degree intentional homicide.
The complaint says a man identified as the victim contacted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office after receiving what he described as threatening and hostile texts from Volm. According to court documents, he told investigators he became especially concerned after hearing from another person — identified in the complaint as a witness — that Volm had allegedly tried to hire someone to kill him.
According to the complaint, the victim showed a series of messages to a deputy, including a text sent Dec. 6 that said: “No, there isn’t. I am going to f-*** kill you, you piece of s***. Your pathetic.”
Investigators later interviewed an alleged witness. Investigators said he told deputies Volm had been at his home around the Thanksgiving timeframe and allegedly made threats while asking to have the victim killed. The witness said Volm claimed the victim treated her poorly.
The man also told investigators Volm asked him about his military service and her belief that he owned a gun, and asked him to teach her how to shoot. The man said Volm told him she was going to murder the victim “or end up in prison trying,” and that she would either find someone to do it for her or do it herself.
When asked what Volm wanted him to do, the witness told investigators she asked him to “make him disappear,” according to the complaint.
The witness said he declined and told her she needed help.
The complaint also states the witness initially said Volm did not offer money, but later described Volm implying a sexual experience if he agreed.
Volm is expected to return to court Monday, when a judge will determine whether the case will proceed to trial.
