Woman accused of looking at phone during fatal Nekoosa crash

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) --- A 29-year-old Nekoosa woman is charged with second degree reckless homicide in the July death of her roommate.

Jessica Hendricks, 29, is free on a $50,000 signature bond.

Investigators said Scott Carlson was on a motorcycle near the intersection State Highway 173 near Kimball Ave. in the Town of Port Edwards when a vehicle headed west on Highway 173 hit the rear of the bike just before around 10 p.m. July 25. Carlson was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to court documents, Hendricks admitted to reading a text message at the time of the crash.

A future court date has not yet been set.
