"It's nothing you can imagine. She was just laying there in a pool of her blood... just below their tree stand."

Tanya Meyer and her family are mourning the death of their one-and-a-half-year-old dog, Zoey. Tanya said Zoey ran away on Friday and was found Monday 30 feet from their neighbor's tree stand.

Tanya said Zoey had an arrow wound to her head.

"The cops came and took pictures, and their doing their investigation now, but it was on their [ the neighbors] property. It's not like they couldn’t see her because their walking path was right next to her."

While the investigation unfolds, Tanya and her family will continue to get support from an unlikely source. “People have been contacting us... 'Hey, I had something similar happen to us, here's a website you can contact, and just talk'. It's just amazing how much support people have been giving."

The Adams County Sheriff's Department and Town of Rome Police Department are investigating the death of a beloved family pet. So far, neither department is releasing any information other than an investigation has begun

As of Tuesday afternoon a post on Facebook from the family asking for helping finding whoever shot Zoey had more than 50,000 shares.

The Meyer’s say one good thing they hope will come from this horrible situation is to bring awareness to hunters and dog owners. It's important for hunters to look for dogs in the area and for dog owners to know that hunters may be nearby.

If you have any information about this case, you're asked to call the Adams County Sheriff's Department at (608) 339-3304.
