The Town of Wausau Fire Chief tells NewsChannel 7 a skid steer and hay were destroyed by a fire Friday (3/6/15) evening. But crews managed to save the barn they were in.

Four departments were called to the scene at about 7:30pm for the fire in the building that is estimated to be 40 feet by 60 feet.

The fire chief says an undetermined but small number of beef cattle managed to get out of the barn on County Highway Z in the Town of Wausau.

Fire officials say the fire started about an hour after the owner had used the skid steer and put it in the barn. It spread from that equipment to the hay inside.

Crews brought in a backhoe to get the hay out of the building, which they managed to save.

No human injuries were reported.
