Charity Snowmobile Ride Benefits Great Causes

While the Eagle River Snowmobile Derby may still be a few days away, many are already making their way north to enjoy the areas trails. One ride this week has special meaning.

The DeVault-Merwin Charity Ride works to honor those that have been killed in snowmobile racing accidents. Dan DeVault lost his brother Ed in 2002 in an accident. He says that this charity ride helps to honor Ed's memory.

"Every moment we are on the ride we think about Flip and Ed. When we are at the racetrack all week long its in our mind. We know he's there looking over us." DeVault says.

The ride also honors Flip Merwin, who was killed in 2003 in an accident. The proceeds from the charity ride help to benefit numerous scholarships and charitable causes throughout the area.
