The United Way is looking to the youth to help bring about change in the community.
The Marathon County Chapter says their new "Emerging Leaders Program" is bringing together younger people in our community who are looking to help shape the area they live in.
"It's really to promote philanthropy and to develop a sense of belonging, and know they can make a differences in the community. It encourages them to create their family here, and stay in the community and grow and develop," says Tony Dunwoody the Resource and Development Director.
To gain full access to the Emerging Leaders Program, there is an annual donation required.
But the Director says volunteers are always welcomed to help out with activities.
While the program may be new to the area, organizers say bigger cities such as Milwaukee and Minneapolis have been benefiting from them for a few years now.
