WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- It didn't take Newman long to jump out to a lead in Saturday's matchup against Wausaukee.
The Cardinals held a 29-16 advantage at the halftime. From there, Newman never looked back.
Newman would punch its ticket back to state with a 49-37 win.
"I mean our goal was to send our lone senior Kenzie Krach back to state, and I think that was our drive throughout the season," said Newman junior Lauren Shields. "Once we had that mindset, there was no going back."
"It's just truly amazing experience," said Newman senior Mackenzie Krach. "We've worked all season for this and to achieve this goal is truly unforgettable, and it's going to be a fun time down there."
