Marshfield's Goettl named NC7 Football Coach of the Year

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) -- Marshfield head coach Dennis Goettl was named the NewsChannel 7's Football Coach of the Year in a ceremony held Saturday at Marshfield High School.

Goettl lead a balanced Tigers offense that averaged around 31 points a game to a 12-1 record, an appearance in the Division 2 state semifinals, a perfect conference record, and a VFA-West title.

"I'm from the area," Goettl said. "Growing up in Stanley-Boyd, I've seen Channel 7 All-Stars my whole life and nominated a lot of kids and that played for me. That I've been coaching for a lot of years become Channel 7 All-Stars. I just really think it's a tremendous honor that I actually earn a chance to be a Channel 7 All-Star Coach of the Year."

"As a player, it means everything," Marshfield senior Mason Coffren said. "He's there with you in the weight room, on the practice field, during school. He's always there to help you whether it's drills or even math homework since he's a math teacher, he's always there for you."
