WASHINGTON, D.C., (WSAW) Wausau Police officer Matt Grover and Marathon County Assistant District Attorney Kyle Mayo arrived at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. on Sunday.

The two biked nearly 250 miles from Philadelphia to Washington D.C. with about 2,500 law enforcement members as part of the 2019 Police Unity Tour.

In an interview before they left, Grover and Mayo told NewsChannel 7 they are riding to honor fallen Milwaukee Police officers Charles Irvine and Michael Michalski, who both died in 2018 and Everest Metro Detective Jason Weiland, killed in the March 22, 2017 shootings in the Wausau metro area.

National Police Week officially started May 12 and will last all week with various events to honor police officers across the country.
