WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- Wausau police are investigating the death of a 77-year-old man as a homicide. Police identified him as Lyle Leith.
Det. Capt. Matt Barnes told NewsChannel 7 detectives were led to a residence in Florence County after processing the scene at the home on the 1000 block of Kickbusch Street in Wausau, and interviewing people.
"Officers and detectives traveled to Florence County and executed a search warrant with the assistance of Forest County and Marinette County, as well as Florence County at that residence and as a result of that, detectives are there processing for potential evidence in this case," he said.
One man, in the home, was arrested on domestic-related charges that were identified and stemmed from this investigation.
At this time, Barnes said they are not prepared to identify anyone as a suspect in the case.
Police were first called to the home around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.
"A daughter had come to her father's residence and found him deceased in the garage and we are treating this as a homicide," said Det. Lt. Bill Kolb, Tuesday.
Police said Leith's death was suspicious, though Barnes said he cannot release why the scene was suspicious as not to jeopardize the investigation, only saying it was very apparent when officers got on scene. He is also not commenting on the cause of death at this time, but an autopsy is being conducted.
"Our detectives and officers are working 30 plus straight hours, at this point in time, to make sure every possible investigative lead that can be followed up on right now, is being followed up on," said Barnes.
Neighbors and Barnes told NewsChannel 7 Leith was well liked and send their condolences to his family and friends.
