State Bar donates money for garden in memory of Sara Quirt-Sann

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- The State Bar Board of Governors has donated $1,000 to create a memorial children's garden at Monk Botanical Gardens in memory of Sara Quirt-Sann.

Quirt-Sann was one of four people killed March 22 during a shooting. She was a guardian ad litem and was killed by her client's husband.

The State Bar Board of Governors the more than 12,000 lawyers in Wisconsin.

"There aren't a lot of things like this, that so directly celebrate the innocence and imagination of children something that was obviously very near and dear to Sara Quirt-Sann," Local trial attorney Dale Eaton said. "And for the ability of an organization like the Marathon County State Bar to make that happen, it's just a really good thing for this community."​

The Monk Botanical Gardens is a 21 acre public sanctuary. It provides educational, recreational, and social activities for the region.

Monk Botanical Gardens is located at 1800 N. 1st Ave. in Wausau.
