Sandhill crane arrives at Green Bay wildlife sanctuary

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WLUK) -- A sandhill crane has arrived at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay, which is a big deal for staff.

"It's usually around St. Patrick's Day. So, a little -- a week early, but in terms of the migration world, with this kind of weather we've had, she's right on time, so we're pretty excited," noted Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary's animal curator Lori Bankson.

Bankson says the bird flew in on Tuesday. Animal experts say the migration is only just beginning. They've already seen red-winged blackbirds at the sanctuary, and they expect robins to return in about a week.
