IRMA, Wis. (WSAW) -- Wisconsin State Patrol has identified the 67-year-old man killed Tuesday as result of a traffic crash as Thomas Thompson, of Tomahawk.
Investigators said a highway maintenance truck was conducting snow removal near the shoulder of US 51 when it was rear-ended by a pick-up truck. The crash was reported around noon on US 51 near County Highway J.
The driver of the pick-up, a 26-year-old man was transported to a Wausau hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, Thompson, died at a Merrill hospital.
The driver of the maintenance truck suffered minor injuries.
The investigation remains on going.
