MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS) -- A startling discovery in Milwaukee Thursday morning, a body found in a creek.

Police responded to an area near Hampton Avenue and 100th Street near the Wauwatosa Border.

Wauwatosa police say it looks like the man who was found dead is the same man they had been searching for Wednesday night.

Investigators searched the area around the Fountain Apartments in Wauwatosa last night. Police responded to a call about a man who was violating a restraining order. The man was out on bail for a felony stalking case. He had just been released a few days prior.

When police got to the scene Wednesday night, they found him but he ran off. Officers chased him, but they lost him near this creek along Hampton.

Officers searched for the man for hours. The search included Wauwatosa police, Milwaukee police, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's

Office and K9s. They eventually cleared the scene because they could not find him.

Thursday morning, police got a call about a body in a creek. The Milwaukee County Medical examiner hopes to have more answers in the next day or two.
