Police: Number of vehicle owners didn't comply with snow emergency rules

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- Wausau police said a number of drivers received citations for not complying with the city's snow emergency rules.

From 4 p.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday vehicles could not be parked on streets. The rule is put in place to make it easier for public works crews to clear now from city streets. Keeping parked vehicles off of the streets also reduces the risk of accidents with snow plow equipment during low visibility situations.

The forfeiture for parking on the street during a snow emergency is $100.

Lt. Andrew Hartwig said DPW crews and officers paroling found lot of vehicle parked on streets overnight.

The number of citations issued was not available.
