Marshfield man arrested, accused of throwing away 8 puppies

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) - A 56-year-old Marshfield man was arrested after police found eight puppies in a garbage bag, in a trash can on 4th Street.

Marshfield Police say they got a call, reporting the sound of kittens coming from a garbage can outside a home on the 800 block of East 4th Street.

When they arrived, they found eight newborn puppies inside. Police say they took the puppies to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.

Officers made contact with the person inside the home, and arrested 56-year-old Robert Wild. They referred charges of mistreatment of animals and abandonment of animals to the Wood County D.A.'s office.

Police say the puppies are doing well and may be up for adoption in the coming months.
