GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAW) -- The Packers announced that head coach Matt LaFleur will retain Mike Pettine as Green Bay's defensive coordinator.
This comes just a day after LaFleur reportedly axed special teams coordinator Ron Zook and wide receivers coach David Raih.
The Packers defense improved in its first season under Pettine after they let go of Dom Capers.
Green Bay's defense ranked 17th in the league in yards given up per game. Last season, the Packers ranked 23rd in the NFL.
The Packers defensive third down percentage was also much improved under Pettine. They only gave up a 37.26 percent conversion rate compared to 42.79 percent under Capers in 2017.
