Trial delayed for woman charged with 2017 fentanyl-laced heroin death

SPENCER, Wis. (WSAW) -- The trial has been postponed for the 29-year-old woman charged in an overdose case. Cassandra Staab is accused of supplying heroin that lead to the overdose death of a Spencer man in January 2017.

She's charged with first-degree reckless homicide and two counts of bail jumping.

Thomas Bychinski, 22, died Jan. 31, 2017. According to court documents, fentanyl-laced heroin was found in his system. Authorities said Bychinski was found unresponsive at a home on Hansen Road in Spencer.

Staab remains in custody on $250,000 cash bond.

A jury trial is now scheduled to begin Sept. 3.
