A press release from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department says officers made contact with a person, who was slumped over the wheel of a car on North 10th Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids just after 9:30 this morning.

The release says that person was revived, but when they were being questioned, officers found a suspicious device in their backpack.

The person told officers there was no threat, but police say they called the Marathon County Bomb Squad to the scene out of an abundance of caution.

The bomb squad investigated, and found the suspicious device was actually a cardboard tube containing welding rods.

Police say the public was not in any danger at any point during the incident.

Initial reporting that this incident was initiated by false information reflected information provided at the scene by Sgt. Matt Cornette of the Wisconsin Rapids Police

It's unclear what charges the suspect in custody could face.
