Wisconsin Rapids foundry damaged by early morning fire

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) -- Northern Steel Castings in Wisconsin Rapids has significant damage after an early morning fire.

According to Wisconsin Rapids Fire Chief David Kerkman, a police officer called in the fire at 6:07 a.m. to the company's location on 9th Ave. Monday.

Firefighters from across Wood County responded and got the fire under control around 8:30 a.m.

The roof caved in on one side of the building, which has significant damage.

The extent of damage to the rest of the building is unknown.

Nobody was in the building when the fire started and the cause has yet to be determined.

Kerkman tells NewsChannel 7, the building will be closed for the next few days until the investigation is complete.
