WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- 4K and Early Childhood classes were canceled Wednesday at Hawthorn Hills Elementary in Wausau.

Chief Finance Officer for the Wausau School District, Bob Tess said around 10:30 Tuesday night, storm sewers from the roof at Hawthorn Hills drained into a cracked pipe causing flooding.

“Some of the water started to come in through the building in our 4K wing of Hawthorn Hills, so we had to cancel school today. But it's being taken care of right now and we plan on having school tomorrow,” Tess explained.

Tess he’s aware the closure was a disruption to families and appreciates their patience.
