STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- UW-Stevens Point interim head volleyball coach Lyndsay Kooi announced the completion of her team's 2018 schedule today (May 9). The Pointers will play 13 home matches at Berg Gym, including three home tournaments this fall.
The Pointers head to Texas to open the season with four matches in San Antonio beginning on Friday, August 31. UWSP returns to face Lakeland in the home opener on Sept. 5 at 7:00 p.m. The first home tournament follows with the Pointers Invitational featuring six teams and four matches for the Pointers on Sept. 7 and 8.
UWSP will play six games away from Stevens Point the next week with two matches at the WIAC/MWC Quad in De Pere and four more at the UW-River Falls Tournament.
The Pointers open conference play at home on Sept. 19 with a 7:00 p.m. match against UW-Whitewater. UWSP remains at home with the second Pointers Invitational featuring five teams and three matches on Sept. 21 and 22. After a trip to Menomonie, the Pointers face UW-Platteville at home to close out September at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th.
October begins with eight-consecutive road matches, including three at the UW-Whitewater Tournament, conference road games at UW-Oshkosh and UW-Eau Claire and three matches at the Elmhurst Tournament.
The Pointers close out the regular season with three-straight home matches. UW-River Falls visits Berg Gym on Oct. 24 at 7:00 p.m. UWSP will then host UW-La Crosse and Carthage on Oct. 26 and 27 as part of the Home Triangular.
UWSP finished the 2017 season at 24-10, the eighth-straight 20-plus win season. All-Region and All-WIAC selection April Gehl (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) leads a solid group of returners for the 2018 volleyball team.
