MADISON, Wis. (WSAW) -- The Central Wisconsin Storm returned to the WIAA Girls Hockey State Tournament for the 12th year in a row, and despite a 3-2 loss to Hudson, this may have been the most exciting appearance of them all.
The Storm started the first period with a bang. 9:33 into the first period the Storm's leading goal scorer, Eden Gruber, cashed in on another goal to give Central Wisconsin a 1-0 lead.
The scoring went quite in the second period but an eventful third period made things interesting.
Hudson deposited two goals in under four minutes to take the 2-1 lead, but the Storm would have an answer with just 5:34 left in the game. Trinity Foster lit the lamp to tie it up at 2-2.
At that point, no one knew what was ahead. It took four overtimes before the tie was finally broken. Hudson's Sydney Hendricks slotted the final tally home.
The Storm finish their season with a 20-7 record.
