In a surprising move in a slow free agent market, Ken Rosenthal of 'The Athletic" reports that the Brewers have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran catcher Yasmani Grandal, pending a physical.
Grandal, 30, was an All-Star in 2015 and hit 24 home runs last season. He was widely considered to be one of the top catching options on the free agent market.
Known for his offensive prowess, Grandal has struggled at times defensively behind the plate. He joins Manny Pina and Erik Kratz as catcher on the Brewers 40-man roster.
