It all started on May 22nd with OTA's. Now regardless of the outcome, the Packers season will come to an end on Sunday when the clock runs out in the fourth quarter. A game that may be meaningless to some still is relevant to the men wearing the green and gold.
"Winning is a cure-all. There is no substitute for it," Aaron Rodgers said. "I told Danica when I got home the other night, I said 'There is nothing like that feeling.' There really isn't. There is nothing like the bus ride or the plane ride and getting into your car and driving home when you just won a football game and got to compete again, and that's why you guys ask if I'm playing. Why would I play. I love to compete."
The season started with potential when Aaron Rodgers led the Packers from a 20-3 deficit to start the fourth quarter to a 24-23 victory against the Bears in Week 1. That was 16 weeks ago and the course of the season went awry.
"I think it is kind of tough to put Christmas behind us and focus on the season, but we know we have four days left as a team in this locker room," Dean Lowry explained. "The pride in this room is very strong. We started since April, so I think just to come all this way not give our best effort would not be the right thing."
This season hasn't produced many fond memories, but there is still one last chance for these players to put a glimmer of hope into Packers' fans minds.
"We could have given up in that Jets' game a couple of times. We were down two possessions, and they had the ball late in the game. It's a good testament to show what kind of men we are, and the type of people we have in this locker room," Davante Adams said. "Obviously, we're not competing for a championship like we're used to doing around here but fighting for the name on the front and the back of the jersey means enough to everybody in this locker room to continue to finish strong."
Interim head coach Joe Philbin said during his press conference that this may be the last time these guys ever see each other and that this is an opportunity to put all the pieces together on last time.
