WAUSAU, WIS (WSAW) -- Saturday is one of the biggest races at State Park Speedway: The Merrill Steel Detjens Memorial 100.
And a familiar face will be back, Chris Wimmer is coming out of retirement, returning to his home track.
The race is in memory of his uncle Larry Detjens, which makes it even more special.
Although Wimmer still works in the racing business, this will be his first time behind the wheel in nearly three years.
"Just looking to have a good race, keep it in one piece. Obviously I want to be competing for the win, but it's been a while. We'll see what I've got. It's a big race. It's always been a big race for my whole family. To come back and make it back for this race is big. I always want to make it back for this one, and I've worked extremely hard to get the car done for it. My uncle is a big part of the racing community, he was just a big part of racing. Everyone said he was just such a great person and you can see that because it's still been around for this many years," Wimmer said.
