The Pacelli Cardinals won't get the chance to defend their Division 4 state softball title. This season, they'll take a shot at the division 3 championship instead.

The cardinals lost five starters to graduation, Including their starting pitcher key infielders. So it will be "trial and error" to find the right fit for everyone on the field.

Coach Ann Molski says they embrace the changes and the competition they'll face again this season.

"Our conference is tough and that's what got us ready to make the run and that's what we're able to do what we did in state last year," Molski said. "We have a sign in the gym that says today we start the work of winning. What are you going to bring to the team today?"

"There's a label going from D4 to D3 that its going to be tougher," said senior third baseman Sydney Alery. "So we've got to clear our minds and just focus on winning one game at a time when we get there."

"You know it's the conference and the division," added Brook Nagorski who will become the Cardinal's starting pitcher. "We have a lot of great conference teams. like Weyauwega-Fremont, Shiocton. There's a lot of pressure to beat those teams."
