Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich has been named the 2018 National League Most Valuable Player by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. It is Yelich's first MVP award, he received 29 out of 30 possible first place votes. Javier Baez of the Chicago Cubs finished second, with Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies third.
In his first season with the Brewers, Yelich led the National League in batting average (.326), slugging percentage (.598), and OPS (1.000). He played his best baseball in the second half, and was key in leading the Brewers to the NL Central division title with a September rally over the Cubs.
Yelich is the Brewers' first MVP winner since Ryan Braun in 2011, and the fourth different winner in franchise history along with Braun, Robin Yount, and Rollie Fingers.
