MERRILL, Wis. (WSAW) -- Weinbrenner Shoe Company will celebrate its 125th anniversary next year.
The specialty boot and shoe factory got its start in Milwaukee in 1892, but ended up moving to Your Town Merrill in 1936.
President of Weinbrenner, Patrick MIner, said it was during the depression era that small towns wanted to develop its workforce, hence the company's move.
Over the years, Miner said the company has grown thanks to it's own personal brand called 'Thorogood'.
"Once we started focusing on our own brand, our work-line took off. Our outdoor hunting line took off. A lot of that was also included and subsidized by our military," Miner explained.
Weinbrenner is the second largest employer in Merrill, with around 200 employees.
