Senator Jon Erpenbach and Representative Chris Taylor will unveil a medical marijuana proposal and a statewide referendum bill at a press conference in Madison Monday.
If passed, Wisconsin would be the 29th state to allow seriously ill patients access to medical marijuana.
In a press release, Senator Erpenbach says marijuana should be looked at as an alternative medicine as Wisconsin strives to battle opioid abuse.
The press conference will be held at 10 a.m. in the Assembly Parlor at the State Capitol.
