Wisconsin Rapids woman wins big on "The Price is Right"

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) Gail Rice, of Wisconsin Rapids, appeared on "The Price is Right" on CBS/WSAW-TV Monday and it couldn't have gone better.

She won the "Showcase Showdown" and brought home more than $38,000 worth of prizes.

The mother of three and grandmother of seven has been watching the show faithfully since she was seven-years-old. Her son surprised her on her 70th birthday in March with tickets to watch the show in-person. Rice never imagined she'd actually appear on the show, let alone win the ultimate prize.

She bid successfully on a set of luggage for a chance to get on stage with host Drew Carrey. Rice then got to play the "Bonus Game" and won a trip to Italy. She spun .85 cents on the big wheel which was enough to get her to the "Showcase Showdown." With a chance to win the game show's biggest prize, she did not disappoint. She correctly bid on a trip to Austin, Texas and a new Nissan Versa car.

Rice's son, who also previously appeared on the show but lost in the "Showcase Showdown" was in the crowd cheering his mother on. She wore the same shirt her son wore when he was on the show.

Rice says she is going back in 10-years for her 80th birthday and will wear the same shirt again.
