West's Adam Parsells "little upset" not joining Badgers this fall

Wausau West grad Adam Parsells was supposed to join the Badger hockey program this fall, but those plans have changed.

Against his wishes.

Over the weekend, Parsells played in the NewsChannel 7 Golf Classic when we spoke.

Last season he played for the Chicago Steel of the USHL, junior hockey and was all set to head to Madison.

But when Tony Granato was hired as the Badgers' new coach, they asked him to hold off one more year.

"Yeah, I guess I was a little upset," Parsells said of the decision. "I really wanted to go to college. I felt that I was ready. My skills were ready. But its just the name of the game. You've got to pay your dues and just be patient. You know, a little upset."

Does Granato and the staff still see Parsells as a part of the program going forward?

"When the new coaches were announced they called me. They asked me if I still had interest in going to Wisconsin and I said 'absolutely.' And they reassured me they felt the same."
