Wausau man rides motorcycle for 1 million miles

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) --- Allan Zahrt of Wausau reached one million miles on his 1975 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle Saturday morning. He rode all the miles on the same Honda he purchased in 1976.

He's traveled through the continental U.S., having visited all 48 states as well as several provinces in Canada. He said he's done some research, and while people have reached a million miles on motorcycles only one other person has ever successfully done it on a singular bike.

Zahrt said he never really had a goal of reaching a million miles, he just rode for the good times.

"I get up on a morning, on a day like today with bright sunshine, when I pull out, I don't know where I'm going. I just go and have a good time. Not on a schedule, not on a plan, just riding for the day you go somewhere you see something, make a day of it," he said.

He added that he thinks eventually he would like a new bike, but until then he will be sticking with 'old faithful.'
