Wausau hosts first Silver Pageant

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW)-- The Mountain Terrace Senior Living Center is hosting its first ever silver pageant. It's a beauty pageant for Wausau women 75 years and older.

The road to the stage is full of excitement. On Wednesday, the women got their first taste of the pageant life.

“We are doing a photo shoot for the Wausau area silver pageant. A new program here in Wausau," said community relations director at Mountain Terrace Theresa Haase.

The silver pageant is held for women that are 75 or older. Women like Ann Jaecks, who has appreciated her time preparing for the pageant.

"It's been exciting, because it has pushed me to do more reflection of who I am," Jaecks said.

But for some, the lime light is a bit out of their comfort zone.

"The ladies are very humble, and they don't feel deserving of being honored and recognized in the pageant. That makes them even more deserving,” Haase added.

Jaecks is excited to share the event with her family too.

"I just can't imagine that whole day, and to have my son come over and escort me is fantastic,” Jaecks said.

The event organizers are looking to have a packed house on February 23rd, so they want as many people as possible to attend. The event will be held at Wausau East High School.

“The auditorium holds 800 people, and I need it to be full because they deserve it,” Haase explained.

The event is still in need of monetary donations. If you’re interested in donating, there is a link to the events Facebook page here:
