Snow damage forces Waupaca High School gym closure
The Waupaca School District is looking for places to hold spring sports practices after the high school gym was closed due to damage from heavy snow on the roof.
Athletic Director Aaron Jenson tells NewsChannel 7 the gym is closed for precautionary reasons but a few trusses have been damaged from the weight of the snow. The extent of the damage is unclear at this time, but repairs will be needed.
There are no games or practices scheduled Friday but spring sports practices start on Monday.
The high school athletic department is meeting with two area schools and a local recreation center to find backup gyms for those practices.
Jenson says he's not sure when the gym will be usable again. He says it could be one week, it could be four weeks.
