Washington D.C. (WSAW) -- The Never Forgotten Honor Flight treats veterans to a day in Washington D.C., touring the memorials dedicated to their service.
On the flight home, the veterans were surprised with mail call - letters and packages from friends, family, and strangers. One veteran first thought nothing came for him. But he was mistaken, and actually received the most.
"I remember over in Korea getting mail once in a while," said Korean War Veteran DeWayne Steckel. When asked how long it will take him to go through it all, he replied "I have no idea!"
The president of the Never Forgotten Honor Flight says that DeWayne received the most mail of any veteran who has ever gone on the flight.
