Students from across the state showcase research at the Capitol

MADISON, Wis (WMTV) - Nearly 130 UW undergraduates showed off their research in the Capitol Rotunda on Wednesday.

Topics ranged from environmental research to social media analysis.

One student attending UW-Whitewater, Darius Sanders, shared his findings on raising awareness of the African-American contribution to Art Song.

"Especially as an African-American, it is extremely important to me to talk about this, to bring more awareness to it. I did not understand or really know coming in- I knew that there was going to be talking with legislators, you know, I just didn't know it was going to be so personal," Sanders said.

UW System President Ray Cross made remarks about the students' success.

"We are very proud of your research and achievements, and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to share these accomplishments with many of the legislators, legislative staff," Cross said.

State legislators, state leaders and UW-alumni attended to view the work.
