STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW)-- The Department of Workforce Development and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point are working together to try and retain graduates in the area.
Research shows that if students intern in Wisconsin, they're more likely to stay in the state to work.
During an event Thursday, on campus, University of Wisconsin system President Dr. Ray Cross further explained the benefits.
"This process of aligning the University more closely with businesses, of providing internship opportunities to better understand where businesses are going and what we're preparing students to do. All of that is mutually beneficial," Cross said.
Thursday's event included speakers from Mid-State Technical College and North Central Technical College among others.
