WAUSAU, Wis., (WSAW)-- The chips will fly in Stevens Point for the annual 18th annual woodcarving show.
The Show, Competition and Sale will be in Stevens Point at the Holiday Inn on September 15 and 16, 2018.
This year will again include about 130 tables of carvings on display, which will include realistic human and caricature carvings, animals, fish and birds, woodburning, relief, chip carving and much more.
Many carvers are local, but the show will attract carvers from the far corners of the country, with other exhibitors coming from Minnesota, Illinois, and as far as Nebraska, Colorado and South Carolina.
The Wisconsin River Woodcarvers show will start on Saturday morning with the carving competition, which includes 32 categories of carvings. These categories include: realistic human, human caricature, animal caricature, caricature group, realistic animals, realistic fish, stylized, game birds, song birds, waterfowl, birds of prey, other birds, chip carving in the round, chip carving flat, low relief carving, deep relief carving, natural finish pyrography, colored pyrography, santas, religious and angels, mythical, walking sticks and canes, floral, miniatures, miscellaneous-golf balls or intarsia, bark carving, unusual wood, gourds, treenware, ornaments, and decoys.
There will also be demonstrations plus “Kids Carving” on Saturday. On Sunday there will be demonstrations plus “Kids Carving”. Carving tools, books, and other supplies, as well as carving wood, will be available at the show.
.Admission is $4.00 for adults. Those 12 and under are free. The hours are 9-5 p.m. on Saturday and 9-4 p.m. on Sunday.
