WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WSAW) -- UPDATE, 10:30 a.m. Friday: A missing Waupaca woman was found safe Friday morning, after spending the night in a wooded area.
In a press conference Friday morning, Waupaca County Sheriff Brad Hardel said Law Enforcement, Fire Crews and nearly 300 volunteers searched for her Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning. One of the search crews found her around 10:00 a.m. Friday morning.
The Sheriff said she needed some medical attention, but was alert and talking. Sheriff Hardel said the temperature in Waupaca dropped below 50 degrees Thursday night.
Sheriff Hardel credited the search effort, and the assistance from volunteers, for her safe return.
A Silver Alert has been issued for a 92-year-old woman named Kathryn 'Kitty' Wenckus. She's missing from the Chain O' Lakes area.
Wenckus is described as 4 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 105 pounds. She's believed to be wearing flannel blue-print shorts, a lavender-colored polo shirt and a gray-hooded sweatshirt with 'Chain O Lakes Waupaca WI' lettering on it.
