WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- It's official. UW-Marathon County is now called the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point at Wausau.
It's part of the UW System restructuring, making all two-year campuses part of the larger, four-year universities.
There was a sign unveiling ceremony held Wednesday on the Wausau campus.
City, county and university leaders spoke about the impact the college has had on the community and where they are headed in the future.
"That means new program, new graduate program, new undergrad programs, that means a new vibrancy, that means new services for students, that means a great opportunity for this community and central Wisconsin," said UWSP Chancellor Bernie Patterson.
There was a similar ceremony Wednesday at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point at Marshfield.
