Northcentral Technical College is hosting a 2-day festival for science and engineering.

Almost 4000 6th and 7th grade students attended Friday before it opens to the public Saturday.

Volunteers and the Michigan Tech University's Mind Trekkers team are hosting a variety of activities that focus on science, technology, engineering and math or 'stem' for short.

Making kids aware of their opportunities related to stem. Where their career could go or what other areas they may not be aware of.

Jannah Brandt from Mind Trekkers says, "from biology to chemistry to physics. Some have fire, some have liquid nitrogen. And so the kids are really getting to see a lot of those different areas."

The event will be free and open to the public Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
