Body of missing swimmer found in Adams Co. lake

The body of Paul W. Anderson, 25, of Kewaskum was found Sunday afternoon, according to the Rome Police Department.

A department press release states that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources located a body around 2:20 p.m. Sunday in Lake Camelot, using underwater remote sonar and camera equipment.

At approximately 12:47 a.m. Saturday, the Rome Police Department received a 911 call reporting the missing man.

Witnesses reported Anderson jumped off a dock into Lake Camelot with another man and attempted to swim out to a boat in the lake, but never made it.

The Rome Fire Department also conducted a search of the lake in the area the male was last observed early Saturday morning. The search resumed Sunday at 7 a.m.

The cause of death remains under investigation by the Adams County Medical Examiner’s Officer and Rome Police Department.

The Rome Police Department was assisted during the day search by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Rome Fire Department, and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
